What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include pixels (tiny images or scripts that record a page view or an email open), local storage and device identifiers. We use “cookies” to mean all of these.

The cookies and tags on this site

Strictly necessary. Set by WordPress and the shop software to run the cart, checkout, login, security checks and your cookie choices where a consent banner is shown. The site does not work without them. Typical names: wordpress_logged_in, woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session, cf_clearance (Cloudflare security).

Analytics. Google tags (Google Analytics) count visits and show us which pages and products people use. Google sets cookies such as _ga and _gid and receives your IP address and page views. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising. The Meta pixel (_fbp cookie) records that you visited this site and which pages you saw, so Meta can measure our ads and show you our ads later. This is “sharing” of personal information under California law. Meta’s policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Email. Emails we send contain a tracking pixel and tracked links so we can see whether an email was opened or clicked. You can block images in your email app to prevent the open pixel.

Embedded content. Pages that embed YouTube or Vimeo videos, Instagram posts or maps load content from those companies, which may set their own cookies when you play or interact with it.

Your choices

  • Consent banner: where this site shows a cookie banner, you can accept or refuse non-essential cookies there and change your choice later from the link in the footer. Where no banner is shown, the browser and opt-out tools below are your controls.
  • Browser: every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking essential cookies will break checkout and login.
  • Ad opt-outs: Meta (Ads preferences in your account), Google (adssettings.google.com), Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (youradchoices.ca), US DAA (optout.aboutads.info), EU EDAA (youronlinechoices.eu).
  • Do Not Track: we do not currently respond to the older Do Not Track signal because there is no agreed standard for it.

Retention

Session cookies end when you close the browser. Persistent cookies last from a day (cart) to two years (analytics and advertising) unless you delete them.
